How to care for your stretch bracelet

I love the convenience of stretch bracelets and hesitated for a long time before making them. I had apocalyptic visions of elastic breaking and beads scattering on the floor, of course at the worse moment.

I investigated and tested ways to make stretch bracelets in ways to ensure their sturdiness for a long time. But how you care for it will also go a long way on how your bracelet will last.

Here are some advices for you to follow to prevent stress on your bracelet:

1- put it on and off the right way

Do not pull on one end of the bracelet to stretch it over your hand to put it on and off.

Instead, roll the beads over your hand and wrist, stretching the elastic as little as possible.

2- do not wear it in the shower, in the pool or in the spa

Not only the heat and chemicals are going to wear off the elastic but they can also damage the stones.

3- pay attention that your bracelet do not get caught in something

For example, when you rummage through your purse (how do I know that?)

4- do not let your toddler or your pet play with it

Obvious, but I prefer to say it...

5- If you want to cleanse the stones, do it the right way

Use sage, incense or intent. Do not let your bracelet stand in the sun for hours and do not let it soak in salted water.

If your stretch bracelet comes with a spiral charm:

it is made in Argentium silver which is hypoallergenic and tarnish resistant. But it will tarnish if you dip your bracelet in salt water!

Besides, it does not need any special care but a rub with a polishing cloth (I recommend yellow Sunshine polishing cloth) once in a while. Try to avoid the gemstones because jewelry polishing clothes contain a mild abrasive that can damage it.

If you need to clean the stones, use lukewarm soapy water, rinse well and gently pat dry.
